THE BENEFITS OF CBD FOR ATHLETES

Athletes strive to perform at their best every day, from joggers and marathon runners to martial artists and billiards players. The use of CBD in sports is diverse and becoming increasingly popular: e.g. anxiety-relieving, antipsychotic¹, pain-relieving² and anti-inflammatory³ effects are suspected.

But what is CBD and how can it help an athlete?

CBD (cannabidiol) is a cannabinoid compound in the cannabis plant. A cannabinoid is a chemical component of cannabis that your body also produces on its own and can therefore be considered purely natural. The CBD you take as a supplement binds to your endocannabinoid system and stimulates your body to produce its own cannabinoids⁴. These can have anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic or analgesic effects³, among others. As far as the THC concentration is concerned, all hemp products available in Germany have less than 0.2%. Our CBD oils all have 0.0% THC and can therefore also be used wonderfully in the sports sector.

So you don't have to worry about your performance being reduced when you use freigeist CBD, quite the opposite. We have compiled the most important benefits of CBD for athletes below.

Why do athletes use CBD?

There are many reasons why athletes should use CBD to supplement their fitness programme. The soothing properties of CBD on the muscles is pretty much the biggest draw. It doesn't affect your sensory abilities, nor does it have an intoxicating effect. Cannabidiol can be taken orally (CBD oil) or applied topically to the skin (CBD skin oil). CBD is popular with athletes from all walks of life, whether they are fitness enthusiasts, long-distance runners or amateur footballers.

Soothes aching muscles and joints

After long runs and intense training sessions, athletes use the relaxing effect of CBD (CBD oil) to soothe stressed muscles and joints (CBD skin oil). CBD skin oil are the most commonly used products for this application. High-quality CBD oils, such as you can find in our shop, are optimal for the start of the recovery phase. Our CBD skin oil for muscle relaxation (Muscle Relax) contains CBD as well as supporting additives such as menthol or chamomile oil to enhance cooling and relaxation. In combination with a massage, your body can recover quickly and you feel top fit again. The recovery of joints and muscles after sports through care with CBD oil is just as important as the training itself.

CBD not only helps to alleviate muscle discomfort, but also to relieve tension, eliminate annoying mental stress and improve your sleep⁶. With this, you cover the full range of your recovery phase.

Promoting concentration

Concentration is essential for the athlete. Whether you are focused on sports to avoid injury or simply to keep your nervousness in check, your mental state is just as important as your physical fitness. For people who confuse CBD with THC, it may be surprising to learn that athletes use cannabidiol to improve their concentration. The important thing to know is that CBD does not get you "high". It can help you calm your nerves and sharpen your senses⁵. Ideal for this is our classic CBD oil (0.0% THC based on MCT oil for that extra kick of energy), which you can best use 30 minutes before exercise, but also during or after.

In summary

Athletes demand a lot from their bodies. Nutrition, hydration, rest and body care are the key elements of a long and healthy workout.

The added benefits of CBD for athletes of all levels can be an excellent addition to a sustainable fitness programme. Successful recovery, healthy muscles and high concentration are all important ingredients that cannabidiol is thought to help you with. Take care of your muscles and joints, get healthy recovery, stay focused and calm to stay fit and demand peak performance from your body.
